CINCINNATI, OH – A 24-year-old woman is facing a litany of felony charges, including murder after police say she fatally struck a 58-year-old innocent bystander with her vehicle at a grocery store parking lot in late August whilst she was intentionally running down the father of her child.

The incident reportedly occurred at the parking lot of the Spring Grove Village Kroger in Cincinnati on August 31st, where two victims were struck by the suspect’s vehicle, killing 58-year-old Christopher Scott Griffith and severely injuring the intended target.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters, who identified the suspect as 24-year-old Taahviya Chapman, claims the deadly weaponization of the vehicle during the incident was spawned by Chapman having suspicions that the father of her eight-month-old child was being unfaithful in their relationship.

“While he was in Kroger, she apparently went through his cell phone and believed that he had in an inappropriate relationship with her sister.”

In surveillance footage captured during the incident, Chapman’s intended victim and Griffith (who is crossing the path with assistance from a cane) can be seen walking across the grocery store parking lot when Chapman’s vehicle comes barreling through, hitting both victims and curb-jumping the sidewalk.

Chapman seemed to take zero notice of the second victim she struck, instead opting to run out of the vehicle so as to physically attack her intended victim while he laid out on the ground. All the while, authorities say Chapman’s eight-month-old child was seated inside of her vehicle.

Griffith was rushed over to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center but, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries. As for the intended victim in the deadly attack, officials say he suffered a broken leg.

The Hamilton County prosecutor stated during a press conference regarding the case, “What this woman did is sickening. Her total disregard for human life is stunning. This woman didn’t care about the lives she put in danger — including her own eight-month-old child.”

At the time of the incident, Greg – the brother of the slain victim – explained that Griffith was in the process of recovering from a motorcycle accident, hence why he was using the cane seen in the surveillance footage.

“He was paralyzed from the neck down after his motorcycle accident. He slowly but surely recovered until he could walk. He needed a cane, but he could walk and function, live on his own.”

Greg spoke of his late brother’s career as a sound engineer who’d had the privilege of working with great artists like Harry Connick Jr., Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Prince, The Temptations, and the Four Tops.

At the end of the day, Griffith’s brother is hoping that justice prevails in this matter.

“I don’t understand why someone would do this. I really want her to pay for what she’s done. I mean the maximum penalty, whatever the murder charge is going to be, that she pays for this. This is senseless.”

Based upon the charges, Chapman could easily spend the rest of her life in prison if convicted, as prosecutors have hit her with one count of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, one count of attempted murder, and one count of endangering children.
