CHERRY HILL, NJ – According to reports, 78-year-old actor Gary Busey was hit with several sex offense-related charges in relation to his appearance at a convention near Philadelphia earlier in August.

The Oscar-nominated actor has been looked at as sort of a quirky character prone to odd outbursts over the years, but the charges Busey is reportedly facing are hardly anything to laugh at.

A report from the Associated Press noted that Busey was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment on August 19th, per a statement obtained by the Cherry Hill Police Department.

The charges reportedly stem from Busey’s attendance at the Monster Mania Convention being held at the Doubletree Hotel, where the actor was a featured guest for the event held between August 12th through the 14th.

Hardly any details aside from the specific charges levied have been shared by officials, as it’s unclear as to whether there was one or multiple alleged victims and if it was a single incident or multiple ones spread throughout Busey’s time at the convention.

CNN obtained a statement from a law firm representing the Monster Mania Convention which notes that the event organizers were aware of the matter shortly after it allegedly occurred and had Busey removed from the convention.

“Our client, Monster-Mania LLC, is assisting authorities in their investigation into an alleged incident involving attendees and a celebrity guest at its convention in Cherry Hill, New Jersey last weekend. Immediately upon receiving a complaint from the attendee, the celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return. Monster-Mania also encouraged the attendees to contact the police to file a report.”

Busey nor any representatives for him have released any comments regarding the matter and it is unclear whether the actor has obtained any legal representation.

This isn’t the first instance where Busey was accused of inappropriate touching, as a 2016 article from The Daily Beast details an alleged incident during his time on “The Apprentice” back in 2011 where he purportedly sexually assaulted a female staffer on the show.

According to the 2016 article, “Multiple Apprentice employees, including the alleged victim herself, told The Daily Beast that the Academy Award-nominated actor ‘grabbed’ one of their colleagues ‘firmly between [the] legs'” and that “Busey also forcibly put the female staffer’s hand on the crotch of his pants.”

The alleged victim, who spoke anonymously to The Daily Beast, claimed the incident transpired after some of the cast and crew had taken shots together and she and Busey were outside having a cigarette.

“We were smoking cigarettes outside, and Busey was standing next to me. And then at one point, he grabbed me firmly between my legs, and ran his hand up my stomach, and grabbed my breasts. I didn’t know what to do. So I made this joke that, ‘Oh, I’ve never been sexually harassed by a celebrity before!’ Then he grabbed my hand and put it [over] his penis, and said, like, ‘I’m just getting started, baby.'”
